Wigan eased four goals past a woeful City side that had their lucky mascot in front of the dugout, of all things this could be; it was a DONKEY.

This sort of summed up how the City players, with the possible exception of Barton (who managed to keep his arse in his shorts today), went about their business today.

In what was a game that the Latics needed to win, they as per usual set off at a blistering pace and scoring their usual quick goal via a superb half volley from Emile Heskey.

A lovely ball to Boyce was equalled with a great cross from which Heskey banged the ball past the flailing Weaver after just 1 minute 3 seconds.

The second goal was not long after, with Camara being fouled around 25 yards out, Skoko (making his return to first team duties) slapped an in swinging ball which was beautifully met by Richard Dunne, under no pressure from any Wigan players, to head into the back of his own goal.

After this the half was dominated by Wigan with Kilbane, Camara and Scharner pummelling the City defence.

The only attack of note for City in the first half when a fantastic move ended with Corradi meeting a pinpoint cross, and with the goal at his mercy, he headed over the bar.

The second half carried on where the first left off with Wigan totally ruling the proceedings.

Kilbane went close again with City only troubling the Wigan goal on a couple of occasions.

Pierce brought Vassell on to try and create a sense of urgency and nearly pulled one back, but his snap shot drifted just wide of Kirkland's goal.

Scharner went close again from a corner taken by Kilbane. But with Mr. McClaren pulling out of visiting the JJB an hour before the game, Baines gave him something to think about when he started a move off in his own half, sharing a 1-2 with Scharner, then racing down to the bar line where he pulled the ball back.

The pitiful Jordan didn't clear properly and Camara punished him by poking the ball home past the helpless City Keeper.

Two minutes later the game was killed off by Valencia, who spanked the ball past the outstretched Weaver from 16 yards out, after great work from the energetic Heskey.

The last 20 minutes were just played out by the Latics, but at least Dickov got the crowd going with his inane rants and even funnier lack of control on the ball.

The game saw Wigan's second win of the term, their biggest ever win in the Premiership and hopefully the confidence levels are now for them to go on and have a great season.
