Yet again in an Arsenal v Wigan game, Phil Dowd did his best to make sure that Arsenal didn't lose their unbeaten home record.

His 'performance' was nothing less than scandalous, especially in the closing ten minutes where he gifted Arsenal their goals.

Last year in the Carling Cup semi-final, we saw Phil Dowd wave away a blatant penalty when Sol Campbell rugby tackled Jason Roberts to the ground.

That day should have seen Campbell get his marching orders and maybe a goal from the spot kick.

Luckily for Wigan there was nothing he do about disallowing their away goal winner that night, even though looking back at the game, he did take a while to actually blow his whistle to signify the goal would stand.

Again at the last ever game at Highbury, the almost exact same thing happens and yet again, nothing is done by the inept Phil Dowd and Arsenal get the result.

Wouldn't someone by this point be thinking that he has something against the Latics??

Further to that, wouldn't you think that his performance be reviewed in these two games to stop him officiating a match between the two clubs again??

The obvious answer was no. As the game went on, Arsenal showed their class and came close to scoring on several occasions.

But to Wigan's credit they never let their heads down and continued to break out and attack Lehman's goal.

They gave as good as they got on the attacking front and could have gone ahead a lot earlier than they did.

Landzaat was 25 yards out when a half clearance from Djourou fell at his feet; he took one touch of the ball before unleashing a powerful shot that beat Lehman hands down.

If Henry et al had scored it would probably have classed in the Best Ever Emirates Goals.

Seconds before half time, Heskey should have put us two up when a beautifully threaded ball from Ryan Taylor found the Wigan striker one on one with Lehman.

As Emile's shot left his foot, it looked in the net all the way, only for the German stopper to get the deftest of touched and put on to the post.

The second half saw Wigan riding their luck a bit, but we saw all Arsenal's chances go by the wayside.

Landzaat, Aghahowa, McCulloch and Heskey all had chances of their own, but could not convert them.

Then in the final ten minutes the Phil Dowd Show came into effect.

It was as if he suddenly realised that Arsenal could lose their first game at home this season and the mood switched to that of amazement in the decisions that were made.

This time he not only waving away a nailed on penalty, but also decided that Flamini should be able to stay on the pitch and Skoko who had walked off after treatment wasn't allowed back on the pitch for some reason only known to the man in black.

To rub salt in the wounds, it was Flamini which then received the ball in an offside position from which he crossed for Arsenal to equalise.

Arsenal's second goal came from a great cross from Baptista, which Rosicky headed home from point blank range.

Not to take anything away from that goal, but would it have happened if Arsenal were 2-0 down with ten minutes to go and down to ten men.

Let's wait for Phil Dowd to comment eh???
