Mark, a former England Semi-Pro International, from his Northwich Victoria days, arrived at Springfield Park on a non contract basis in September 1996 after being released by Huddersfield Town and having trials with Ayr United and Motherwell. He also goes down in Latics history books as the first Latics player to have been sold for a million pounds or more prior to playing for the club, Manchester City signed him for that sum on 29th December 1989.
He made his Latics League debut on 28th September 1996 against Scarborough at the McCain Stadium and the Blues were beaten 1-3. In total he made 5 League appearances for the club before finishing his professional career later that season.
