Although a regular reserve team goalkeeper who was signed from Nottingham Forest, Mark never really established himself at Springfield Park and was only used as an emergency.
He made his debut for Wigan on 8th November 1994 when he replaced Simon Farnworth during an Auto Windscreens Shield tie against Blackpool at Springfield Park.
Another such emergency occurred on 22nd April 1995 when Simon Farnworth was injured during a League game against Walsall at Fellows Park. Mark took Simon’s place between the sticks to make his Latics League debut and the Blues lost the game 0-2.
He was to make just 1 more appearance for the club and this was in the very next game against Rochdale at Spotland and Latics also lost that game.
