Steve is the proud holder of the all time Latics record as the youngest player to ever play a competitive game for the club.
This happened when he made his League debut as a substitute against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on 16th September 1989 in a match that resulted in a 0-1 defeat for the Blues.
He also played as a substitute in Latics’ following match three days later against Liverpool, his boyhood heroes, at Anfield in a League Cup Second Round First Leg encounter.
However, despite being at Springfield Park for almost four seasons he only played 2+4 games without scoring.
He was released at the end of the 1992/93 season.
