David McMullen was born in Denny, Scotland on the 13th of June 1960. 

David was spotted as a youngster playing for Cumbernauld United and despite his slight frame he impressed with his quick feet, close control, and turn of pace. Ian McNeill invited the young David down to Springfield park where he was signed on a two year contract on the 1st of February 1980.                                                                 

Dave, whose grandfather’s brother was the legendary Jimmy McMullan who was the captain of the Scotland team that hammered England 5-1 at Wembley in the infamous ‘Wembley Wizards’ game in 1928 made his Latics League debut as a substitute on the 19th of April 1980 against Northampton Town at the County Ground in a 1-1 draw. David spent two seasons at Springfield Park before being released to join Northwich Victoria shortly before the end of the 1980/81 season.                                 

David still resides in the Wigan area and can often be seen playing golf and supporting the team at the Brick Community stadium.
