Dave, whose grandfather’s brother was the legendary Jimmy McMullan who was the captain of the Scotland team that hammered England 5-1 at Wembley in the infamous ‘Wembley Wizards’ game in 1928, joined Latics from Cumbernauld United on 4th March 1980 and made his Latics League debut just over a month later against Northampton Town at the County Ground.
He was to spend two seasons at Springfield Park before being released to join Northwich Victoria shortly before the end of the 1980/81 season.
In total he made 20+7 League appearances for Latics scoring 3 League goals.
