Per Frandsen

Per was signed by Paul Jewell on 24th May 2004.

He acted very quickly in snapping up the Danish International after he was released by Premiership neighbours Bolton Wanderers the previous week.

He made his Latics League debut on 7th August 2004, the opening day of the new League Championship, in a home game against Nottingham Forest. The game resulted in a 1-1 draw.

He was outstanding in midfield where he formed a great partnership with Jimmy Bullard.

He played 9 League games for the Blues, scoring 1 League goal, in which they were unbeaten before tragedy struck on 18th September 2004 in a home league game against Sheffield United.

With Latics 3-0 to the good he was injured, rupturing his knee ligaments and his cruciate ligaments. This ended his Latics career.

However, he does go down in Latics folklore as a member of the squad that took Latics into the Premiership for the first time in their history.
