A speedy, tricky winger with an eye for goal born in North Shields who signed on for Wigan after spending time at Blackpool but not making a breakthrough into the team. After leaving Wigan he gained League experience at Chesterfield, Derby and Everton (trial).
He returned to Wigan in 1937 for a second spell with the club before joining South Liverpool and then after the war he had a short spell at Fleetwood.
