Heritage Project Museum Official Opening

On Saturday the 27th of October, the Wigan Athletic Heritage Project hosted many influential faces, both past and present, to officially open the new museum after it's move from the South Stand last season.

The new museum, now inside the East Stand in the Blue Room, has been welcoming visitors since the first game of the season and has been improving week on week, with the help of our volunteers and plenty of suggestions and approval from the Latics fans too, leading up to last Saturday's game against Cardiff City.

With the club attributing the game as this years Heritage Match, this provided a fantastic opportunity for the Project to link up with the club and officially open the museum.

In attendance to open the museum were Latics board members Brenda Spencer and Lucas Danson, Wigan Athletic Women players and staff, numerous past players, our volunteers and fans.

Small tours around the museum were followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1pm by Brenda, Lucas, Womens team reps and one of our volunteers, Colin.

Lots of photo opportunities and conversations filled with memories and plenty of stories followed, whilst many were drawn to objects in the museum from their respective periods of playing and supporting.

The day, from a Heritage perspective, was ultimately a huge success and as a group we look forward to seeing more fans come down to the museum every home game for the rest of the season.

The museum is open on matchdays from 1pm on weekend games or from 6pm on weeknight games.
